Indian film and television actress, Mouni Roy, is best known for her role as the snake woman, Shivanya in the TV show, ‘Nagin’, an Ekta Kapoor serial, which became one of the highest rated TV shows in 2015-16.
Born in a family for whom theatre was not new (her grandfather and mother were theatre artists), Mouni finished her schooling in Bihar and started college in Delhi. The beautiful actress shared her place of birth (Cooch Behar) with one of the most beautiful woman in the world - Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur.
Mouni was not a very great actor while in school, and only loved dancing and singing. But soon the arc lights beckoned and finding her calling in the world of acting; she left college half way and headed towards the City of Dreams and Dust: Mumbai.
The beautiful Mouni, was introduced to the world of glitz and glamour through the small screen. She had her fair share of struggle and also did a ‘blink and miss’ role in Abhishek Bachchan’s film, Run. It was Ekta who gave her a break in 2007, in her TV drama, Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Mouni didn’t look back after that!
The ambitious actress was fortunately noticed by Salman Khan, who is known to provide launch pads for new faces in the Bollywood industry. He suggested her in Akshay Kumar’s movie Gold, which should hit the screens on Independence Day.
This TV diva, has been hogging a lot of news bytes lately, as she also bagged a significant role in a romantic sci-fi film, Brahmastra. Produced by Karan Johar, the film boasts of top actors from Bollywood; Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the leading roles.
