Seek blessings from Lord Shani on this Shani Jayanti

Saturn (Shani) will turn retrograde on 30th June 2024 for a period of 139 days and it would turn direct only on 15th Nov 2024. This would have been a tough time for many natives and you may have been going through the test of time. Shani has a perception of being a malefic planet amongst the public, but in reality Shani is the idol of Justice. While it penalises natives for their bad Karma, it also rewards the hardworking and truthfull. Shani Jayanti is considered to be one of the most auspecious days to Worship and please 'Shani Dev'. This year Shani Jayanti falls on the 6th of June.

Shani Pooja Methodology (Puja Vidhi):

The first step in Shani Puja at home should be  washing the feet of Lord Shani’s idol. The idol should ideally be cleansed with gangajal, panchamrat, oil and water. This water is not discarded but is consumed as 'Charanamrit'.

Shani idol should be decorated using black clothes and usually offerings like sesame oil, gram and clothes are given during the Pooja. The lamps(diyas) should be lighted only using sesame or mustard oil.

The best time to offer prayers to Shani is before sunrise. Some ardent devotees also believe in observing a fast during the daytime and they usually break their fast by consuming khichdi.

After the entire process people recite Shani Dev’s mantra and also sing Shani Dev’s aarti along with chanting the name of Shani Dev for 108 times. Shani yagya can also be conducted with the aid of a purohit or Acharya to seek protection from any kind of evil.

One should not sacrifice any animal during Shani Jayanti as Lord Shani dislikes it.

Charity

We would strongly advice you to do charity on  Shani Jayanti as Shnai Dev is also known as the 'Nyaypriy dev' or the Lord of Justice. Such deeds of kindness and charity would be reciprocated the lord. This would help to rectify any bad karma, if you have been affected by the retrogression of Shani.. Any act of charity or donation on this day to the poor, old, needy or handicapped is believed to remove Shani Dosha and is followed by aatma shuddhi. It purifies sins and also acts a remedy for removal of all faults or doshas in one’s horoscope.
