It is one of the most significant and popular ceremonies to please Lord Shiva and is seen as the greatest spiritual puja in all the Vedic scriptures. Rudrabhishek Vidhi
Shiva Lingam is first washed by water along with the continuous chanting of the Vedic mantra - Rudra Sukhta, which is popularly known as the Shiv Rudrasbhishek mantra. Other items like cow milk, coconut water, rice, powdered sugar, ghee, curd, honey, sugarcane juice, etc are mixed together and then poured on the shiva lingam.
Vedic Sadhaks perform the Rudrabhishek which begins with Lakshmi Ganesh Puja in the morning. After this, Shivling abhishek is carried out throughout the day using the above-mentioned items while chanting the rudrabhishek mantra.
Later, flowers especially lotus flowers are used to decorate the Shivling and apart from flowers, leaves of the Bilva Patra tree are also used for decoration purposes. After all these rituals, aarti of 108 diyas is performed at the end and prasad is distributed among the Sadhaks and devotees who attend the puja.
