- High priestess
The High Priestess tarot card is the second card of the Major Arcana. This is the card of prayer and spirituality. “Ask and you shall receive”, is the vibration associated with this card. The card embodies the intuitive and urges you to have trust in what you feel. It assures you that you will find the answer to questions yourself. It is ruled by the moon and the element water. The moon is suggestive of the mysteries of the night while water represents emotions, femininity, the subconscious and self reflection.
Represents
The High Priestess Tarot represents secrecy, intuition, unemotional externally, all things feminine, ability to understand and interpret the word of God, Divine wisdom, enlightenment, power in silence and contemplation.
Description
In the Rider Waite deck, The High Priestess Tarot shows a female figure sitting on a cubic stone between the two pillars at Solomon’s Temple. There is a lot of blue colour in the card which represents emotions/sensitivity. The black and white pillars are the contrast between the materialistic and spiritual, between male and female, between good and evil, negative and positive. She has on her lap, the sacred Tora-book of Moses, the book of knowledge. She wears the crown of Isis which suggests that she is a believer of magic. Her crown shows three phases of the moon(waxing, waning and full) and there is a crescent moon at her feet. This shows her intuitive abilities. Pomegranates are a symbol of righteousness.
Meaning
Unlike The Magician, who manipulates, The High Priestess protects and teaches rather than controls. This is simply because she understands how the universe works. When The High Priestess appears in the reading for future, it also means that you are not meant to know the future. If the querent is a male, it could indicate a strong feminine influence around him. If a female, it could represent you….a little reclusive, a little too sensitive but having access to esoteric or spiritual knowledge.
The High Priestess Tarot card meaning changes when the card comes reversed. It cautions you to be careful about misleading information and lays emphasis on the fact that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. You will be reluctant or fearful of making decisions as there will be inability to judge events and issues clearly.
In a business reading
On the work front, you should listen to your inner voice and let it guide you while taking decisions. Don’t take things at face value and go according to the rule books. Your intuition and hunches will help you more.
If you are looking for a job, going through the regular routine of advertisements etc may not help. Some inner voice may ask you to look at a completely different place for you to strike lucky. Follow that voice’s suggestion.
The High Priestess can also represent an undisclosed third party, who is impacting the business relationship from a distance.
In relationships
In love, The High Priestess Tarot can represent a third party forming a love triangle. Your instinct about your partners feelings are probably correct. Do not over analyse a situation too much and just go with what your gut feeling tells you.
When The High Priestess comes up for singles, it suggests your intuition will guide you to go to a place where you will find your soul mate.
In Health
In a health reading when The High Priestess comes up, it encourages you to follow what your feelings tell you about your diet. Eat what your mind tells you even if you find that odd and don’t eat something that your gut feeling tells you not to, even if you love it. You will intuitively know the cause of your problems too.
