Parshuram Jayanti

According to Puranic literature, Lord Vishnu's sixth avatar (incarnation), Parshuram, was born at Renuka Tithi. He was named Ramabhadra, but after an important event, he was named Parshuram. Let us continue to learn about the event.

Ramabhadra was a devout Shiva worshiper. Lord Shiva was pleased with his unwavering devotion and bestowed upon him the sacred task of freeing Mother Goddess from demons. Shiva gifted him with divine weapons, including Parashu, an ax-shaped weapon. Due to this, his name was changed from Ramabhadra to Parashurama.

Mahabharata

The beginning of the Satya Yuga (Golden Age) is marked by the day of Akshaya Tritiya. On this day, it is believed that Veda Vyasa and Lord Ganesha began composing the Mahabharata.

Krishna-Sudama

Sudama, a poor Brahmin, was Lord Krishna's companion. Sudama once visited Krishna on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. His visit was intended to solicit Krishna's financial assistance. Sudama was greeted with glory by his friend, which made him embarrassed.

Sudama was ashamed of being unable to provide his friend with anything, despite the kindness with which he was treated, but he offered some Poha (rice dish) to his friend. Krishna was unconcerned about changing his mind about friendship and instead savored the Poha that his beloved friend had given him.

Sudama was so taken aback by Krishna's treatment that he couldn't ask for anything else. As a result, he came home empty-handed. Sudama returned to find his cottage had been renovated into a royal residence. Sudama received much more than financial assistance due to Lord Krishna's blessing.

  1. On this day, bathing in the Ganga has a special meaning. Whoever does Ganga Snana (bathing) is purified of all negative energies.

Gaja Puja

Elephants are cleansed with water and dressed in royal clothing before beginning Gaja Puja. They are then presented with flowers, and sacred rituals are performed afterward.

Ashwa Puja
