Home Entrance Muhurat 2021

Everyone wants to build a dream home for themselves, where he and his family live their lives with laughter and good health. Therefore, according to Hindu tradition, whenever someone buys a new house, they seek blessings and prayers from God before going into it. This is done so that all the negative and unfortunate powers present in the house can be destroyed, and they are happy in the new house.

According to Indian astrology, the prayer or worship performed for the house before entering or residing in any new house is called the Griha Pravesh ceremony. On the other hand, if we talk about Vastu Shastra, there are three types of home entry ceremonies -

Apoorva: During Apoorva Griha Pravesh Puja, a person goes to live in a newly constructed building for the first time.

Sapurva: During the Sapoorva Griha Pravesh Puja, we leave our house, where we used to live earlier, but later leave the new house empty for any reason, and now decide to return to the same house.

Dwaandhava: In Dwaandhava Griha Pooja, we leave our house under compulsion due to any problem or accident and then do ritual worship to enter again later.

Importance of auspicious time

Of the 16 sacraments of Hinduism, home entry is one of the most important rites, so it is mandatory to do it at the right time. A scholarly pundit or an astrologer should be consulted to calculate the auspicious time. In the meantime, the priests look at the astrological calendar and make a proper assessment of the date, constellations, and planets, and ensure a perfect time for the home entrance ceremony for you.

In the Hindu calendar, it is believed that the Griha Pravesh Rites performed in the month of Magha, Phalgun, Vaishakh, and Jyeshtha are very auspicious. Whereas during the Chaturmas, namely the month of Ashadha, Shravan, Bhadrapada, and Ashwin, this ceremony should not be performed because in Hinduism, performing Manglik is considered taboo. Along with this, Pausha month is also not considered auspicious for Gruha Parva.

If you specifically look at a particular day, it is forbidden to enter the house, especially on Tuesday. Also, under exceptional circumstances, Sundays and Saturdays are considered inauspicious for the Homecoming ceremony. Apart from this, you can organize this function on the remaining days of the week at your convenience.

As per the dates, the Amavasya and Poornima dates of any Paksha are inauspicious for entering the new house, while Shukla Paksha's Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashmi, Ekadashi, Dwadashi, and Trayodashi are considered the best.

Home entry worship method

The main purpose of performing Griha Pravesh Puja is to please the Vastu Deity by chanting mantras.

1. Break the coconut

The Vastu deity is pleased when the family's male head breaks the coconut placed at the house's threshold during Griha Pravesh.

2. Kalash Puja

The Kalash is filled with water, a coin, and nine kinds of grains, also known as Navdhyana.

3. Place coconut on the urn

The coconut should be tied in a red cloth and put on a vase with mango leaves.

4. Recite mantras

The priests chant the sacred mantras to this urn during home Kalash Puja.

5. Take the urn indoors

The husband and wife take this sacred urn inside the house and keep it near the place of havan.

6. Cow and calf presence (optional)

Many Hindus in India worship the cow. Therefore it is auspicious for the cow and calf to participate with the family members during the house warming ceremony. This brings positive energy and prosperity to the new home.

7. Boil Milk

After the pooja is completed, the lady of the house boils milk for everyone.

8. Milk Offering

The lady of the house offers milk to the deity, Kula. Then, it is distributed to other family members as prasad.

9. Offering food to the priest

Family members must donate to the priest and provide proper food.

10. Stay overnight

Family members should not close the house at any cost on the day of entry and stay there overnight.

11. Keep the lamp on

The lamp must be kept burning to attract spiritual energy.

Take care during home admission.

  • During the home entrance ceremony, the house's main gate should be well decorated using bandarwars and flowers. Also, if possible, make a beautiful rangoli at the main gate.
  • After filling the holy or pure water in the copper vase, apply eight leaves of Mango or Ashoka tree on it and place a coconut on it.
  • Make a swastika symbol with kumkum on the urn and coconut.
  • After performing religious ceremonies, it is advisable to enter the new house in the sunlight with that urn.
  • The eldest man and woman of the house should enter the house with five holy items in Hinduism like coconut, turmeric, jaggery, rice, and milk.
  • When entering the house, the men should enter the new home with their right foot, and the women with their left leg.
  • It is considered auspicious to install an idol of Lord Ganesha and Shri Yantra in the house on the day of home entry.
  • Mangal Kalash brought for Lord Ganesha in the sanctum sanctorum of the house should be established.
  • After this, worship the kitchen of the house and light a lamp by making a swastika symbol on one wall.
  • First of all, use the kitchen, boil milk in it and then make something sweet using it and offer it to God.
  • After offering food to God, distribute the remaining food as prasad to the cow, ants, crows, dogs, etc.
  • After this, provide food to a priest or a Brahmin and a poor person, give them clothes and take their blessings.
  • In this way, it is believed that home entry done by a ritual brings happiness, peace, and prosperity to the house.

Common Mistakes During Home Entry

  • Often, we enter the house while it is being constructed or before its completion, which is considered very inauspicious in Hinduism. In such a situation, it is always necessary to follow certain rules, as stated in astrology. Let us know what we should avoid during this time: -
  • Home entry should not be done until the house's main doors are fitted, and the house’s roof is completely formed.
  • According to the rule of Vastu Devta, worship should be performed with the family at the time of entering the house. Otherwise, Vastu dosha can be found.
  • It is believed that the house's main gate should not be locked until a few days after the religious event. Otherwise, the deities feel hindered from entering the house.

Home entrance auspicious Lagna

The Lagna (Ascendant) holds special importance during the home entrance ceremony. The auspicious Lagna is an auspicious time, during which performing any ritual according to the Muhurta is considered appropriate and auspicious. If a particular time is going on in a particular zodiac in terms of Lagna, it can be both auspicious and inauspicious for you. It is necessary to take care of some things while entering the auspicious Lagna in such a situation.

Let's take a look at these things: -

  • The house owner should not have the eighth Lagna, birth Lagna, or birth sign at the time of auspicious Griha Pravesh Muhurat.
  • The house owner should enter the house in the third, sixth, tenth, or eleventh house from his birth sign or birth Lagna because entering the house at this time always proves auspicious. Griha ascendant is considered auspicious in the first, second, fifth, seventh, ninth, and tenth constellations from the ascendant in the house Lagna. It is auspicious in the third, sixth, and ninth house, and in the meantime, the fourth and eighth house is pure if the house enters; it is considered auspicious to do.
  • The position of the Sun from the birth constellation of the home lord is considered inauspicious if it is in the fifth or ninth house at the time of entering the house, but it is considered auspicious in the eighth or sixth.

Installation of new house equipment

Maintaining happiness, prosperity, and harmony in your new home is considered auspicious and beneficial to put many instruments in astrology scriptures. According to your beliefs, tradition and reverence, you should install these instruments with complete law. The most auspicious of these instruments are considered:

Shri Mahamrityunjaya Yantra: The installation of Shri Mahamrityunjaya Yantra protects the house from misery, disease, and any crisis.

Sri Mahalakshmi Yantra: The installation and regular worship of Shri Mahalakshmi Yantra give the grace of Goddess Lakshmi in the house, which eliminates all financial problems.

Navagraha Yantra: The Navagraha Yantra brings happiness and prosperity to the house by ridding all the house members' faults.

Shri Kubera Yantra: Worshiping Shri Kubera Yantra increases the family's flow of income and strengthens the financial situation.
