How to Read Tarot Cards?

Tarot cards are simply a tool of divination with the help of which a reader intuitively connects with the ‘higher self’ and seeks answers to questions he/she needs to know. Tarot does not predict the future. Instead, it reveals the possibilities of the outcome of taking an action while encouraging you to walk on the path of self-exploration. Thus, it helps guide you gently towards manifesting your goals.

Tarot cards work for you only if you believe in them. When you do that, the cards pick up the right energy from the universe and convey the right information through intuition to its reader. It will tell you exactly what is happening below the surface of the events around you. When you consult a tarot reader, she will intuitively tap into your energy and connect it with the universal energy through the medium of the cards. The information that she will gather from the universal medium, will be conveyed to you through words. From then on, it becomes your call. You now have an open book before you with the possibilities of happenings. Different paths are right there before you. It now depends on you, which one to take. When you take the right decision, it will take you to your goal.

Tarot cards have been around for centuries. They were used as playing cards and also for fortune telling in the form of fun. The cards have been improved upon and now come in different types of decks, but the basic format remains the same.

The most common tarot deck consists of 78 cards that look similar to a deck of playing cards, except for its archetypal imagery. It is this archetypal imagery that fascinates or scares people. But it is with the help of this imagery, that a tarot reader is able to use her intuition to tap into the universal wisdom to gain access to information.

The different cards in the deck represent the different elements of our life, the different emotions we experience, lessons that we need to learn and the various conditions we will encounter in our lives. And so, we can ask about any situation we are facing, as the answer to all our queries is right there in the cards.

A typical deck is divided into two parts: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The former has 22 cards which represent life’s karmic and spiritual lessons while the later has 56 cards that reflect the trials and tribulations of our day to day life.

While looking for an answer to your query, the reader shuffles the cards while saying your question aloud. She will then pick out cards and lay it in a spread of her choice. The placement of these cards will tell her the entire story. Every card will have its own meaning and when placed in a spread, will combine with other cards to give a complete and clear picture of what is going on.

This will be conveyed to you by the reader, in words.

You can read the tarot cards yourself, provided you have the ability to tap into your intuition. Like all skills, this is possible with patience and practice.
