Importance of Moon in Astrology

In Astrology, Moon signifies calm and peace. While the Sun is related to the soul of an individual, the Moon represents his mind.

More so in Vedic Astrology, Moon is considered to be the most important planet in the birth chart. It moves faster than any of the other plants.

It takes approximately 324 days for the Moon to orbit about the 12 zodiacs, and spends about 27 days in each zodiac sign.

Moon is friendly with the Sun, and planet Mercury. Moon has no enemy planet, and so has a neutral relationship with all other planets; Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu. The Moon is the ruler of a zodiac sign, Cancer, and rules the 4th House in the birth chart.

Moon is considered to influence traits like a person’s intelligence, creativity, and imagination. Since it exerts a significant impact on an individual’s mood and emotions, a malefic or ill-placed Moon can make the native prone to issues of depression, arrogance, or even envy and jealousy.

When the Moon is exalted in Taurus, it is considered to be the most powerful position of the Moon in an individual’s birth chart. This placement encourages the native’s creativity and innovative side. An auspicious Moon can also result in success in all spheres of life for the native.

On the other hand, when Moon is debilitated opposite to Taurus in Scorpio, it can bring about inauspicious results for the native. Moon’s influence can increase if it is afflicted by malefic plates like Saturn, Rahu, or Ketu.

The afflicted Moon can slow progress and be detrimental to the individual’s career and relationships. It makes the individual lazy, fearful, and restless. It can also cause problems like depression, anxiety, migraines and increase stress.

A bright Full Moon is considered highly auspicious, while a dark/ No Moon is considered to have inauspicious results. During the Full Moon, the Moon is closer to the Earth, and it also influences the water in the oceans.

Apart from this, Moon is considered highly important as it helps to match horoscopes and check for compatibly between two people before marriage or to check for success in business. This tradition of match-making or gun-Milan is calculated by comparing the placement of the Moon, which rules an individual’s mind, senses and emotions. Hence, it can give an accurate analysis of how compatible, happy, and successful two people are likely to be.

The daily, weekly, and monthly horoscope predictions are also calculated based on the positions of the Moon.
