The first fifteen days are known as the Shukla Paksha, whereas the second slot of the last fifteen days is known as the Krishna Paksha. In each Paksha, a particular date is Purnima or Amavasya. Purnima is the division between the Shukla Paksha, i.e., the bright two weeks before the Full Moon, and Krishna Paksha, i.e., the dark two weeks after it. Purnima or the Full Moon night is the last day of Shukla Paksha. Purnima Tithi marks the beginning of the second slot of the last fifteen days of the month, known as Krishna Paksha. On the last day of the Krishna Paksha falls the Amavasya (no moon night).
