In Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu are two imaginary astronomical points in the sky, which have a distinct, profound and predictable impact on human lives. They are considered to be a 'Node’, ‘Chayagrah’ or ‘Shadowy Planet’ known as the 'North Node’ in Western astrology.
Of the nine planets, Rahu is labeled as a ‘rogue’ planet as it is a significator of all morally wrong things like stealing, gambling, lying, being evil etc. But inspite of its malefic effect, it can also be benefic depending on its placement in the birth chart and has the power to fulfil any material wish of a person such as wealth, fame and all-round success. Although it is paired with Ketu, it has more importance than Ketu.
Since Rahu plays such an important role in a native’s destiny and luck, it makes sense to try and keep it positive by different remedies, one of which is the chanting of the sacred Mantras for Rahu. Mantras are powerful words that can be used to ward off the effects of malefic planets, to bring success, peace and contentment.
Some Beej Mantras (Seed Mantra), which are used to connect with this Planetary deity and energise all the higher powers of the Rahu is:
“Om Dhum Raam Rahave Namah”.
(Dhum corresponds to the power, Dhavana Shakti, which corresponds with hiding, saving and preparing)
"Om Bhraam Bhreem Bhraum Sah: Rahve Namah"
"Om Raag Rahave Namaha"
"Om Rang rahave Namah"
Any one of these should be chanted 108 times in one sitting.
