Goddess Saraswati is the Goddess of learning, Vedas, music, poetry and art who blesses one with knowledge and wisdom. She is also the Goddess of speech and especially students should pray to her to achieve success in their studies and other educational endeavors. Here are a few easy steps through which students can invoke the blessings of the Goddess:
Take a bath in the morning.
Ensure that the area where the puja is to be performed is tidy.
Place a white cloth in the area where you are planning to place the idol.
After placing the idol, decorate it with turmeric, kumkum, flowers and rice.
Keep musical instruments or books near the idol. Books should be wrapped in a pink or red coloured silk cloth.
Place an idol of Lord Ganesha besides Saraswati's idol.
Sit with folded legs and face the Goddess.
Take bel patras and flowers in your hand and invoke Lord Ganesha; place the flowers and bel patras at Ganesha’s feet. Do the same for Goddess Saraswati and recite the mantra given below:
Yaa Kundendu Tushaaradhawala, yaa Shubhra Vastravrutha
Yaa Veena Varadanda Manditakara Yaa Shweta Padmasanaa
Yaa Brahmachyuta Shankara Prabhrutibhi Devai Sadaa Vandita
Saa Maam Pathu Saraswati Bhagavati Nishshesha, Jadyapaha
Aum Saraswathyae Namah, Dhyanartham, Pushpam Samarpayami.
Light incense sticks after this, offer fruits and sweets to the Goddess and perform aarti at the end.
