The Pandav Nirjala Ekadashi will fall on 21st June 2021. It is believed to be the most rewarding Ekadashi among all the 24 Ekadashis. The legend says that Bheem, one of the Pandavas, wished to fast on Ekadashis but could not do so because of his uncontrollable hunger. On Maharishi Ved Vyas's advice, Bheem observed fasting on the Nirjala (meaning without water) Ekadashi and gained the fruits of observing all the Ekadashis just by observing this single Ekadashi.
This day is dedicated to Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, and he is worshipped in idol form as well as in Shaligrama form. Worshipping him on this day is known to attract his grace and it attracts happiness and prosperity in life. Performing Abhishek by Panch Amrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey and khand) is considered very auspicious. Recitation of Shri Vishnu Sahastranaam, Shri Vishnu Stotra, Narayan Kavach, Purush Sukta, etc., is also considered very auspicious. Likewise donating clothing, milk, rice, etc., to Brahmins/needy people is very auspicious. Taking a dip in the holy waters such as Ganga ji, Yamuna ji and Godavari, is also considered very auspicious.
Astrologically, Ekadashi is a Nanda Tithi and Mars rules it. Mars is currently exalted in Capricorn and thereby creating an additionally powerful influence on this day. On this day, fasting and worship would also benefit in controlling anger and fighting out odd situations in life. Healthwise, it would benefit in controlling the blood element in the body through controlled blood pressure and blood sugar. There is no wonder that systematic fasting has a great positive influence on the body functions, and when favorable planetary transits combine it, then it is very rewarding.
