They had Gandhi – We have Anna!
If you look at a newspaper or listen to the news bulletin, you will be disheartened with the way one after another the so-called leaders/politicians are ruining the nation for their personal gains. The news today shouts the true story of the exceeding levels of corruption in the country. Allegations against most of the political leaders and the inaction from the government's side compelled the "aam admi" to join the protest of the crusader Anna Hazare.

Dr. Kisan Baburao Hazare, popularly known as Anna is an Indian social activist who is especially recognized for his contribution to the development of Ralegan Siddhi, a village in Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, India and his efforts for establishing it as a model village, for which he was awarded the Padma Bhushan by Govt. of India, in 1992. On April 5, 2011, he has started a fast unto death to make pressure on union government to enact Lokpal Bill, a law enabling Lokpal to deal with corruption in public offices.

Anna's Lokpal claimed, "Like Supreme Court (SC) and Election Commission, an independent body called Jan Lokpal should be set up at the Centre and a Jan Lokayukta should be set up in each state to receive complaints of corruption, investigate them within six months and prosecute the guilty." The Lokpal Bill is a measure to conduct an investigation regarding involvements of people with high profiles (Prime Ministers, Chief Justice of India (CJI) and so on). The bill will provide speedy, cheaper form of justice to people. It will not wait for any permission from the high commission to begin the inquiry into the alleged irregularities and corruption charges against political leaders, judges or even the Chief Justice of India (CJI). In this proposed system, politicians will not have any say in selections of chairperson and members of Lokpal.

After a much-hyped protest by Anna and his team including social-activists Arvind Kejriwal, at the national capital, the Congress Govt finally did take the decision to present the Bill in the Parliament earlier this year. However, the draft of the bill that was presented in the Parliament was much different from the one suggested by Anna. It limited the powers of the Lokpal and kept PM, senior bureaucrats, etc. out of the purview of the Lokpal and thus was not as effective as the one proposed by Anna.

In protest of this alleged 'cheating' act by the government, Anna once again took on to protest. This time, however, he has been denied the right to speak his mind or even protest in his non-violent way. Anna along with his eminent team members - Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and Manish Sisodia were taken under preventive custody on the morning of August 16th, the day they had planned to start their protest.

Citing the situation, team Anna claimed that the government is trying to impose emergency once again in the country. Kiran Bedi, asserted, "This is exactly what happened during Indira Gandhi's emergency." When Anna asked what the charges against his team are, he was informed that the police have been instructed to do so. Clearly pointing out that the government is curbing the democratic rights of these leaders who are fighting for the cause of the nation, and not the politician's pockets. The Team has called the Bill presented in the Parliament as the "corruption bill" and not a "Lokpal Bill."

This Gandhian crusader urged the people of the nation to fight for its right and not let the politicians loot our economy through corrupt practices. This, according to him, is the "second freedom struggle." And he is supported by numerous supporters throughout the country. People in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jamshedpur and many other cities joined rallies at different places supporting Anna Hazare and his struggle against corruption.

Anna is continuously compared to Gandhi because of his non-violent ways of protest and the calm composure with which he protests. He claims to be a die-hard follower of Gandhi and chooses similar ways of protest. Be it fast-unto death which is continued even when in Jail. He follows one Gandhi and is fighting against the government lead by another Gandhi.

Anna, born on June 1938, has Moon and Sun debilitated in Navamsa, which indicates that he took birth in an ordinary family and his childhood is a rich source of thought for the System and the Rulers. Rahu Ketu are debilitated in his chart, thus there is likelihood of either his going against the politicians and/or the politicians going against him or both the things happening simultaneously. So now we know how he gets the courage to take steps that others cannot even think about. The movement raised by Anna may be able to make substantial impact and would see some positive steps in the future. In the current year the Dates 9th to 11th April, 24th April, 3rd and 4th June, 16th to 18th June would be important for him and the movement. The Months of June 2011, December 2011 and June 2012 would be very important and significant for Anna.

The movement of Saturn, Jupiter and Rahu would be favourable for the protest; however, Rahu can bring auspiciousness as well as some unforeseen hindrance from the politicians. However, from October 3, 2011 Anna may see some better things happening which would be for the country's benefit. The policies and programmes adopted would be appreciated not only by the people of India but it will also grab attention in the international field.
