For centuries, the movements of the celestial bodies have been used to predict one’s future. Vedic astrology is one of the oldest systems of astrology in the world and uses the actual constellations of stars, position of planets and sun at the time of the native’s birth. Although it is actually very difficult to know the exact birth time of an individual, most astrologers are happy to make the birth chart if they know the birth time correct by the minute. Since the Celestial bodies are moving so fast in the sky above us, the birth time is important to calculate the positions of Ascendant, Sun, Moon and the planets. Since the Ascendant, on an average, moves about 1 degree every four minutes, if there is difference in your birth time, your horoscope may not be that accurate.
Astrologers site the example of twins born with minor time difference and having major differences in their lives.
The simple matter of fact is that, since Vedic astrology is so vast, different astrologers follow different system of making their predictions. Some insist they need the birth time to the exact minute, while others manage to make reliable predictions within a difference of 5 minutes in the birth time. But the unanimous agreement about Vedic astrology is that predictions cannot be made without knowing the birth time. An approximate birth time given, can make the reading go awry.
But the good thing about Vedic astrology is, although time is of precision here, there are many ‘Birth Time Rectification’ techniques, which renowned astrologers know of, that helps correct mistakes in birth times. If the native is honest about not knowing his exact birth time, the astrologer can use a different astrological technique for predicting his future.
