For centuries, the movements of the celestial bodies have been used to predict one’s future. Vedic astrology is one of the oldest systems of astrology in the world and uses the actual constellations of stars, position of planets and sun at the time of the native’s birth. It is for this reason that the time of birth of the native has to be known in order to make the birth chart of the person. The position of the celestial bodies at that time, effect every event that will unfold in the life of the native. Vedic astrology lays emphasis on the time, date and place of birth of the native.
Broadly speaking; Vedic astrology thus differs from Western and Chinese astrology since the former depends on the date of birth of a native and the later on the year the native is born.
Ancient Indian sages, from the Vedic times, who helped compile the different branches of Vedic astrology, believed that the birth time of every native is based on his past ‘karmas’. The present events in a native’s life are based on the karmas of the past and so are the ‘doshas’ and remedies. Thus, Vedic astrology is deeply spiritual too.
Vedic astrology is highly authentic and its predictions are believed to be the most accurate as it is based on fixed zodiac, ‘Nakshatras’, ‘Dasha’ and Divisional Charts.
Although it is actually very difficult to know the exact birth time of an individual, most astrologers are happy to make the birth chart if they know the birth time correct by the minute. Since the Celestial bodies are moving so fast in the sky above us, the birth time is important to calculate the positions of Ascendant, Sun, Moon and the planets. Since the Ascendant, on an average, moves about 1 degree every four minutes, if there is difference in your birth time, your horoscope may not be that accurate.
Astrologers site the example of twins born with minor time difference and having major differences in their lives.
The simple matter of fact is that, since Vedic astrology is so vast, different astrologers follow different system of making their predictions. Some insist they need the birth time to the exact minute, while others manage to make reliable predictions within a difference of 5 minutes in the birth time. But the unanimous agreement about Vedic astrology is that predictions cannot be made without knowing the birth time. An approximate birth time given, can make the reading go awry.
But the good thing about Vedic astrology is, although time is of precision here, there are many ‘Birth Time Rectification’ techniques, which renowned astrologers know of, that helps correct mistakes in birth times. If the native is honest about not knowing his exact birth time, the astrologer can use a different astrological technique for predicting his future.
