Goddess Laxmi is considered to be the deity of wealth and prosperity. It is said that chanting the Laxmi mantra is the best way to please Maa Laxmi and gain her blessings. This mantra is also known as the money mantra but its recital is not just limited for monetary gains. We pray to Goddess Laxmi to enlighten our minds with intelligence and comprehensive skills.
The root word that forms the crux of the name Laxmi is ‘lakshya’ which refers to a ‘goal.’ Goddess Laxmi helps us achieve our aim in life and the Laxmi mantra helps us find a way to reach our life goals.
The consort of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Laxmi represents the divine energy that bestows upon her worshippers wealth, prosperity and happiness. It is believed that she relieves her followers from the sorrows pertaining to materialistic deprivation.
Shri Mahalaxmi is known by many names such as Padma, Kalyani, Vaishnavi and so on. She is often depicted with four hands that stand for the four goals that a person must achieve during his/her life - Dharma (to do one’s duty righteously), Artha (to get meaning into your life with the help of prosperity), Kama (the pleasures of the world) and Moksha (the ultimate level of salvation).
It is said that Goddess Laxmi bestows her blessings upon all those people who chant the Laxmi Mantra with immense faith and complete dedication. The frequency created by chanting the Laxmi mantra enhances the aura of the chanter in such a way that they attract money and prosperity within no time.
It is best to chant this mantra 108 times a day for a cycle of at least 40 days. In case, you are in deep trouble regarding matters of money, then you must chant the Laxmi mantra 108 times and repeat this process 5 times in a day.
There are a few things that must be kept in mind while chanting Laxmi Mantra. The rosaries used for chanting Laxmi mantra are mostly the kamalgata mala or the sphatik mala. It is best to place roses and lotus flowers at the feet of the deity and then start on the process of chanting. The most apt time for Laxmi mantra recital is the Shukla paksha, Purnima tithi, shubh nakshatra, and chandravali.
Goddess Laxmi is also known as the goddess of cleanliness and therefore, it is very important that you thoroughly clean the place where you plan to chant the mantra. It is believed that we invite Goddess Laxmi into our lives and expect her to stay with us. Thus, we cannot offer her a dirty place to reside as this might offend her and this may lead to the wrath of Goddess Laxmi.

Laxmi Mantra in Sanskrit
“ॐ सर्वाबाधा विनिर्मुक्तो, धन धान्यः सुतान्वितः।
मनुष्यो मत्प्रसादेन भविष्यति न संशयः ॐ ।।”

Lakshmi Gayatri Mantra
In Sanskrit - “ॐ श्री महालक्ष्म्यै च विद्महे विष्णु पत्न्यै च धीमहि तन्नो लक्ष्मी प्रचोदयात् ॐ ।।”
In English - “Om Shree Mahalakshmyai Cha Vidraahe Vishnu Patrayai Cha Dheemahi Tanno Lakshmi Prachodayat Om ||”
Meaning - “ I meditate upon the great Goddess, the wife of Lord Vishnu to bless me with higher intellect and bestow upon me riches and opulence in abundance.”
Lakshmi Beej Mantra
In Sanskrit - “ॐ श्रीं श्रियें नमः”
In English - “Om Shring Shriye Namah”
Meaning - The beej mantra is said to be the one through which all other mantras of that particular deity originate. The beej mantra of Goddess Laxmi is the word “Shreem” and by reciting this mantra you can attract fortune, prosperity, and intellect.
