Tejashwi Yadav - RJD President

Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, is a young politician who has been given Politics in heritage. Son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, following his father’s footsteps Tejashwi entered into Indian Politics and was the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, under Nitish Kumar government for twenty months. Currently he is the leader of the opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly and the youngest opposition leader in the country. Tejashwi began his career as a cricketer and was a middle- order batsman. He played in one Ranji Trophy and two limited over games for Jharkhand. He was a part of Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League for 2008 – 2012 but did not appear on the field.
He moved to politics in the year 2015 when he was elected as the member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Raghopur constituency. After this win RJD made an alliance with Nitish Kumar and in return of that Tejashwi was elected as the deputy Chief Minister. Soon after, The Central Bureau of Investigation registered a case of corruption against Tejashwi Yadav, and other members of the family including his father. Enforcement Directorate registered another criminal case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and due to all of this Nitish government took strict actions against Tejashwi and asked for his resignation. Following this Tejashwi refused to do so to which Nitish Kumar broke the grand alliance. Trying to protect his clean image and zero tolerance towards corruption Nitish resigned from the cabinet. Ultimately, JD(U) formed an alliance with NDA and came back to power leaving Tejashwi and the RJD to become the opposition. For the upcoming 2019 general elections, Tejashwi has begun his preparations to form yet another grand alliance with the local parties in order to beat the NDA alliance government.
